Before Betting on Pirates vs Rockies July 15
The Colorado Rockies have gotten their offense going a bit, scoring 23 runs over the final three wins against San Diego in a 3-1 series between NL West rivals. The offshore odds are suggesting another Coors Field high scoring game with a run total in the double-digits, and the Pittsburgh Pirates are hoping a trip to the Denver altitude allows their #28 ranked scoring offense to pad some stats a bit.
Colorado has now won six of their last eight games after also taking three of four in Arizona the series prior. The Rockies are 5-1 in their last 6 at home and 6-2 in their last 8 home games against a left-hand starter. That’s an important trend as Pittsburgh sends Southpaw Jose Quintana (2-4, 3.59 ERA) to the mound in the Pirates vs Rockies July 15 matchup.
Quintana gave up 4 ER to the Brewers in his last start, but Pittsburgh still picked up an 8-6 win. Prior to that Quintana allowed 3 ER over 11 IP to the Cubs and Yankees, each also Pirates wins. Quintana is 0-1 with a 4.41 ERA in 7 road starts this season.
German Marquez (5-7, 5.66 ERA) gets the start for Colorado against a Pirates team in the midst of a 3-3 road trip. Marquez is 1-3 with a 7.17 ERA in 9 starts at Coors Field this season.

The Pirates aren’t playing bad ball lately and they would seem to have the value on Friday night just because Marquez has struggled so much at Coors Field – as a majority of pitchers do. Colorado is likely going to put up some runs against Quintana too though as they are the 2nd best team in the majors against LH pitching (.287) so once again the ‘over’ would be the play.
