Our Portland Timbers vs. LA Galaxy prediction is for the game to have over 2.5 goals.

While the LA Galaxy sits atop the MLS Western Conference, the Timbers are trying to reach the playoffs. Galaxy has an edge over LAFC in the battle for the first place, but they need to keep on winning.

Portland has a four-point minus they have to liquidate over the next few rounds, otherwise, the direct spot in the playoffs stays out of reach.

Portland’s results over the past three weeks have been mixed. After a 4-4 tie against St. Louis City, they defeated Seattle at home, 1-0. However, the most recent result was disappointing: a 2-1 loss in Colorado vs. Rapids.

The Timbers play very efficient games at home. In 14 matches at Providence Park, they scored 35 and allowed 22 goals.

Portland won’t have problems with injured players, as all their starters are fit and ready to play.

Galaxy won El Trafico last week, beating the FC 4-2. They gained three valuable points, giving them an advantage in the standings over the local rivals. Greg Vanney’s team played two more matches than FC but has seven points more than Cherundolo’s crew.
