There is a busy weekend of Premier League action ahead, with 18 of the 20 teams involved. Chelsea’s huge showdown with Arsenal, which was scheduled for this weekend, isn’t taking place due to the Blues being involved in the FIFA Club World Cup. However, there remains no shortage of drama in store. But, which soccer picks should bettors be making for the games taking place this weekend?
Intriguing Saturday Matches
The matches played on Saturday this weekend are very interesting affairs. We will start with Brentford’s home game against Crystal Palace. The Eagles were held by Norwich City in mid-week, but had a golden opportunity to win the game, as Wilfried Zaha missed from the spot. Brentford were brushed aside by Manchester City. The last meetings between the sides was a 0-0 draw, but we would be going against that outcome this weekend. The Bees showed bright moments in that fixture against City on Wednesday, and shouldn’t be overlooked at +155.
Everton’s home game against Leeds United looks set to be one of the most significant played this weekend. The Toffees are just two points above the drop zone, and could fall into the relegation places with defeat this weekend. They have lost their last four, and Leeds certainly look more than capable of inflicting a fifth. The Whites fought back from 3-1 down against Aston Villa to save a point in mid-week, and have taken four points from the last six on the road. At +210, they look great value to continue that fine away record against the struggling Toffees.
Watford are also in action on Saturday, as they host Brighton & Hove Albion. Brighton’s form has dipped in recent weeks, as they have drawn their last three. However, they have lost just four times in 22 games this term. Meanwhile, Watford have lost the most games in the Premier League this term. The away win is the pick here at +105.
Sunday’s Best Bets
The first game on Sunday sees Burnley host Liverpool. The Clarets put in an excellent display against Manchester United in midweek, and will be hoping to build on that. However, Liverpool have been unrelenting throughout the campaign and will likely be a tougher assignment for the side at the bottom of the standings. Burnley have beaten Liverpool just once in the previous eleven meetings. The Reds have scored at least three in their last two visits to Turf Moor. We will be taking Liverpool with the -2 handicap at +210.
The final game that we will be looking at this weekend is a huge match at St James’ Park between Newcastle United and Aston Villa. Newcastle will be looking for a third straight win, which would see them move up to 16th. The Villa have faltered in recent games, winning just once in five. Villa haven’t won away at Newcastle since April 2005. We could see that run continuing with a success for Newcastle to move clear of the drop zone.
Premier League Picks:
- Brentford @ +155
- Leeds @ +210
- Brighton @ +105
- Liverpool (-2) @ +210
- Newcastle @ +175
