There are two games in the Premier League in midweek, with both soccer games having importance at both ends of the division. West Ham United will be looking to get back into the top four with a victory against Norwich City on Wednesday, while Southampton and Brentford will be looking to further ease their relegation worries with a win when they clash at St Mary’s on Tuesday night.

Under 2.5 Goals-125

There will be a famous meeting between Southampton and Brentford on Tuesday evening, as the two sides meet for the very first time in the English top-flight. The Bees have a solid record against the Saints, as they have won their last two away games against their mid-week rivals. The most recent of their wins at St Mary’s came just last season, as they won 2-0 in the League Cup.

Southampton have also struggled when coming up against newly promoted sides in recent seasons, as they have last four of their last six. They have won just twice against sides that have been recently promoted to the Premier League. However, the Saints do some into this fixture having gone three without a defeat, and victory on Tuesday could lift them up to eleventh in the standings.

However, all the stats point to a victory for the travelling side. Brentford picked up maximum points in their last league fixture, and could move into the top half of the standings with a second consecutive win in the Premier League this week.

Pick: Brentford

Many will believe that there is a home banker on Wednesday evening, as West Ham United are heavy odds-on to pick up the victory that they need to move back into the top four. Their recent form has certainly picked up, as they ended a run of three without a victory by winning their last two in the Premier League.

The Hammers did the double over the Canaries the last time that the visitors were in the Premier League, which ended a terrible run against their midweek opponents. Before those back-to-back wins, the Hammers had won just twice in the previous ten. However, Norwich have struggled on the road against West Ham, as they haven’t won on the road in their last eight meetings.

Recent form also makes it very hard to merit support for the Canaries at the London Stadium this week, as they have lost their last five games in the Premier League. Despite that, they are still just three points away from safety at the midway stage of the season. But, it is hugely unlikely that they will end that terrible run against a bang in-form Hammers side at the London Stadium on Wednesday.

Pick: West Ham United
