Josh McDaniels’ first season with the Las Vegas Raiders (5-7) has been a disappointment, but this team can inch closer to .500 with a win over the hapless Los Angeles Rams (3-9) on Thursday night to kick off the week 14 slate. L.A has lost six in a row – partly due to a Super Bowl hangover but mainly because this club has been ravaged by injuries this year.

Before Betting on Raiders vs Rams

It’s a short week for the Raiders, but also just a one hour flight from Las Vegas to L.A. The Raiders also have a bit of momentum on their side, winning three in a row as they go for the Los Angeles sweep following a 27-20 win at home over the Chargers last week.

The Raiders were hard luck losers earlier in the season, starting 2-7 but with six of those losses coming by one score. Now Las Vegas is figuring out how to win those close games, beating both Denver (22-16) and Seattle (40-34) in OT on the road. They’ve done it with a solid running game behind Josh Jacobs (1,303 yards, 10 TDs) and a solid connection between Derek Carr (20 TDs, 8 INTs) and Davante Adams (1,178 yards, 12 TDs).

You can’t blame the Rams for slumping a bit, as no team would be able to endure the injuries they’ve gone through this season. Aaron Donald (ankle), Matthew Stafford (spine), and Cooper Kupp (ankle) all continue to be out of the lineup as L.A. is putting out a glorified practice squad team on Thursday.

Raiders vs Rams Prediction & Pick

These seems like a really good spot to pull the trigger on the Rams, because a majority of the betting public is going to be backing the Raiders. Los Angeles is just so banged up though, and not only is Stafford out but backup John Wolford (neck) is questionable.

The Rams have done a nice job of staying competitive lately including in last week’s 27-23 home loss to Seattle, but the losses piling up combined with the short week has this team calling for the mercy rule.
Pick: Raiders -6.5
