The Los Angeles Rams (7-6) visit their longtime California rivals the San Francisco 49ers (6-7). Both teams are still alive in the NFC West playoff race. Our Rams vs 49ers prediction is for underdog Los Angeles to win the game.

Both teams are coming off huge wins to keep pace with first-place Seattle. Los Angeles won the NFL‘s game of the year in a shootout with Buffalo. San Francisco blew out Chicago.

Head-to-head, San Francisco has the upper hand with a record of 78-70-3. The Rams won the teams’ earlier game, 27-24.

Los Angeles Controls Its Destiny

With its barnburner 44-42 upset win over Buffalo in Week 14, the Rams ensured they could win the division and make the playoffs without outside help. At 7-6, they are one game behind the Seahawks. Based on their earlier win over Seattle, if they win out, they win the division.

Against Buffalo, Los Angeles posted 457 total yards. They rushed for 137, Matthew Stafford threw for 320, and two touchdowns. Neither team turned the ball over.

The Rams have had trouble running the ball all season, partly because their key receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua were out with injuries allowing opponents to focus on stopping running back Kyren Williams. Now, Los Angeles is healthy. They also might be getting another boost with the return of injured tight end Tyler Higbee.

Despite Injuries, San Francisco is Battling

The 49ers’ 38-13 win over the Bears in Week 14 should be put in its proper context. Chicago is an absolute disaster and is looking for a new head coach.

Christian McCaffrey is out for the remainder of the season, quarterback Brock Purdy has an undefined shoulder injury, tackle Trent Williams has an ankle injury, and Nick Bosa is nursing his hip. Even if they make the playoffs, their prospects for a deep run are poor.

The 49ers’ pass rush was effective against Chicago, sacking quarterback Caleb Williams seven times. Purdy had a brilliantly efficient performance going 20 for 25 with 325 yards passing and two touchdowns.

There was a minor firestorm after a Deebo Samuel post on X passive-aggressively complaining about getting the ball. It received a knockout community note and was subsequently deleted.

Expect Deebo to get the ball on Thursday night. Whether he catches it is another story.

After the Rams, they play Miami, Detroit, and Arizona. It’s difficult to see them beating Detroit while the Lions try to lock down the number-one seed in the conference.

Rams vs 49ers Prediction: Los Angeles Will Continue Its Late-Season March

Although San Francisco has not quit on the season, the dominating win over Chicago does not bring back their injured stars. Los Angeles can smell the division title. They won’t let the battered 49ers stand in their way.
