In the big end of the year rivalry game, the Midshipmen of Navy and the Black Knights of Army will get together Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Both teams are bowl eligible and will be playing an additional game following this one. The Black Knights won last year, and snapped a long losing streak to Navy.
This season – the Black Knights are 8-3 on the season, but coming off a 3 point oss on the road at North Texas. Navy is 6-5 on the season, and during their season finale they fell on the road at Houston. In fact, Navy has dropped back to back games, and 5 out of their last 6 overall. Black Knights Nation’s Top Rushing Team
The Army Black Knights are the top rushing team in all of College Football. Ahmad Bradshaw is not only the quarterback, but the top running back as well. The Black Knights scored more than 31 points per game, while rushing for 368.1 yards per game. Army also was solid on the defensive end, as they held opponents to just 21.6 points per game.
The Black Knights beat Fordham and Buffalo to start the season. After back to back losses to Ohio State and Tulane, they rattled off six straight wins, over UTEP, Rice, Eastern Michigan, Temple, Air Force and Duke. That led to the loss on the road at North Texas, where they allowed 52 points.
Midshipmen Looking to Get Back on Track
Navy won their first five games, including beating Florida Atlantic, Tulane, Cincinnati, Tulsa and Air Force. Then, the only other win for the Midshipmen was at home against SMU. Navy lost games to Memphis CEntral Florida, Temple, Notre Dame and Houston. The Midshipmen finished tied with SMU for third in the American Conference – West Division.
The Midshipmen are the second best rushing team in College Football. They picked up nearly 348 yards per game on the ground. Much like Army, the Midshipmen quarterback is the main cog on the offensive side. He rushed 278 times for more than 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season.
Navy Edges Army
This should be a good College Football game. Look for both of these teams to pound the ball on the ground, and keep the clock moving. It sounds obviously, but the winner of this game is the team that can stop the run more effective than the other.
