There is competitive action on the PGA Tour this weekend, as the Rocket Mortgage Classic takes center stage in Michigan. The Detroit Golf Club will host the event this weekend, with Tony Finau heading the betting in his search for a second straight victory in the event.

Before Betting On Rocket Mortgage Classic

The Rocket Mortgage Classic is one of the newest events on the PGA Tour, as it was introduced in 2019. It was the first event to be played in the Detroit area, with Detroit Golf Club holding hosting responsibilities. There will also be extra significance this weekend, as it is the final opportunity for players to book their spot at The Open later in July.

Tony Finau comes into the event as the defending champion, as he won the tournament with a record score in 2022. The American finished 26-under, and shot an aggregate score of 262. However, a response will be needed this weekend, as he finished back in a tie for 45th at the recent Travelers Championship.

Rickie Fowler could be the value angle in the betting at the top of the market, as the 34-year-old looks to have played his way into form over recent weeks. He finished just seven shots off the lead at the Travelers Championship last weekend, and also finished in a tie for fifth at the U.S. Open in the middle of June.

Collin Morikawa isn’t enjoying the best season on the greens, but the 26-year-old had showed signs of a recovery in early June, after finishing 14th at the U.S. Open. However, he wasn’t able to back up that performance at the Travelers Championship last weekend, as he missed the cut.
