Before Betting On Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen

An interesting showdown is set up for the Europa League this week, as Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma collide at this stage of the competition for the second straight campaign. Roma were the winners when the sides collided last term, landing a 1-0 success on aggregate before losing in the final against Sevilla. But, this is a much improved Leverkusen side this term.

The German team landed success in their first ever meeting with Roma in 2004-05, but they are winless in their last five since that success. Over that period, three matches have ended in draws, with Roma landing two victories. Interestingly, this is only the second time in European history that the same sides have met in the semi-finals in successive campaigns.

Roma’s European record across recent seasons has been incredibly strong. This will be the fourth season in a row that they have reached the semi-final stage of a European competition, with only Real Madrid able to match that feat since the start of the 2020-21 season.

Leverkusen will be competing in their fifth European semi-final this week, and it marks the first time that they have reached this stage in successive campaigns. However, each of their two defeats at this stage of the competition have been suffered against Italian opposition. Their last appearance in a European final came back in 2001-02, before losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
