There will finally be something for golf fans to get excited about, as it has been revealed that the TaylorRelief Driving Relief charity event will be taking place on May 17th. The event is an unprecedented event in the world of golf, and will take place from the Seminole Golf Club, Florida. There are a huge number of names that are due to take part.

Rory McIlroy will be in attendance for the big event, which has been sanctioned by the Golf Channel, Sky Sports and the PGA Tour. The event is expected to raise millions for American Nurses and the CDC Foundation. As well as McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Matthew Wolff and Dustin Johnson will all be competing against each other.

First Golf Competition For Two Months

The event will be the first time that there has been golf on the television since the opening round of the Players Championship in March. That event was called off after round one, and since then there has been no golf played across the world. It will be a welcome sight for golf fans, as they will finally have the chance to see their favourite golf stars in action. The organisers have admitted that while it will be a professional event, there will still be strict social distancing measures in place.

The event has been applauded by fans around the world, as they back the golfers for accepting to do their part. The UnitedHealth Group Inc have already backed the event to the tune of $3 million, while Johnson and McIlroy will be playing for the American Nurses Foundation. Fowler and Wolff will be playing for CDC. As well as that, Farmers Insurance have revealed that they will be pledging $1 million for birdies. Some funds will also be going towards Off Their Plate. That charity is aimed at helping health care workers. Viewers can also donate their money through the text-to-donate fundraising method.

McIlroy Also Favourite For PGA Championship

There will be a lot of eyes on McIlroy to continue his strong start to 2020, as he is already the favourite for the PGA Championship. The first major of the event will now take place in August after being pushed back. McIlroy will be looking to end his six-year wait for a majors championship this year, as his last success on the major scene came in 2014. In that year he won The Open, as well as the PGA Championship.

Despite not winning a major last year, he did have an incredible season as he won the PGA Tour Player of the Year, Vardon Trophy and the FedEx Cup. The market is still competitive as there is money elsewhere for players such as Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm. Tiger Woods is also among the favourites, but he is priced at +1600. McIlroy’s odds of +800 may shorten should he have a strong showing at this charity event.
