Originally, Thug Rose was meant to fight Maycee Barber, who was seen as the betting favorite for that fight. After getting a new opponent, Rose is a -185 favorite to win. But maybe Cortez can stage an upset?

Rose Namajunas should consider herself lucky to get a new opponent. Our prediction for her fight with Barber was that the Colorado native would run through her. Tracy Cortez, on the other hand, doesn’t look like too big a danger for Thug Rose.
Cortez is 11-1 overall, which sounds great, but she’s only fought against one ranked opponent so far (Jasmine Jasudavicius). It happened in her most recent fight, in which we saw Cortez land 100+ significant strikers, breaking personal record.
On July 13, she’s supposed to fight Thug Rose who’s 6th in the flyweight rankings, even though she’s 1-1 in this division. After losing her Strawweight title to Carla Esparza, she decided to move up a weight class.
On her debut, she lost to Manon Fiorot, who’s a much bigger and stronger fighter. This is why losing by decision was actually a decent result for her. Then, last March, Namajunas beat Amanda Ribas by decision after 25 minutes of fighting.
