The inaugural UFL season has made it to the home stretch, as it enters Week 8 of 10. This matchup features a clash between the struggling Houston Roughnecks (1-6) and the undefeated Birmingham Stallions (7-0). The Stallions are hoping to ride their hot start into a third consecutive championship. It would be their first title of the UFL’s post-merger area.

Before Betting on Roughnecks vs Stallions

Houston fell apart late against the Brahmas, dropping to 1-6 on the season. The defense had an impressive game, holding a capable San Antonio offense to just 3 points across the first three quarters. Unfortunately, the Roughnecks offense was non-existent. QB Jarrett Guarantano struggled to complete passes down the field. He went 11 for 18 for 121 yards in the loss.

Now at 1-6, Houston is essentially eliminated from playoff contention. They will be competing for pride from here on out, with their best outcome being ending the season at 4-6. The Roughnecks will have many needs to address during the offseason. Most notably, they need a game breaking weapon on offense to give them a spark.

The Stallions emerged victorious in a stellar clash against the Battlehawks. In what may have been a preview of the championship game, Birmingham claimed a 30-26 win. They entered the 4th quarter trailing 20-17, but leaned into their home-field advantage and made a push for the win down the stretch. The Stallions have now won seven straight games in back-to-back seasons.

Birmingham is poised to make another title run, now sitting two games above the next best teams in the UFL. QB Adrian Martinez had another excellent performance in the win on Saturday. He completed 21 of 33 passes for 230 and three touchdowns. He also rushed the ball 7 times for 60 yards. Martinez’s dual threat ability has established the Stallions offense as the best in the league.

When these two teams last faced off in Houston back in Week 5, the Stallions surged ahead to a 32-9 victory. Facing the same matchup at home this week, Birmingham is heavily favored. It’s hard to predict how wide the margin of victory will be, but the Stallions are likely to improve to 8-0 in this matchup. The Roughnecks will be relying on their offense to bounce back to have any chance of winning this week.
