The Coronation Stakes will be run on the final day at Royal Ascot this year, with the Group One seeing some of the most exciting three-year-old fillies compete over a mile. You can find the latest odds for the Group One here.

Before Betting On Coronation Stakes

The Coronation Stakes will be the big Group One on the card at Royal Ascot on the final day of the meet. This race has been run by fillies aged three since it was added to the card in 1840, and it typically includes runners that have competed in Classics such as the 1,000 Guineas, Irish 1,000 Guineas, and the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.

Aidan O’Brien hasn’t landed a win in this race since 2017, but Opera Singer could be sent off at a very short price this year. The daughter of Justify was beaten on her return to action when third in the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas, but that was a solid enough run after 238 days off the track. She was the standout two-year-old throughout last season, landing Group One honors in both France and Ireland over a mile.

Fallen Angel got the better of Opera Singer in the Irish 1,000 Guineas in late May, but her fitness edge on that day is no longer a factor. But, the Karl Burke runner remains of huge interest after winning four from six career starts, and is unlikely to be out of the frame if replicating her best figures.

Elmalka caught her rivals off guard when getting the better of the 1,000 Guineas field at Newmarket in early May. She looked much-improved over the mile distance, and is hard to discount. However, Porta Fortuna was a standout runner on that day, and could easily reverse that form after finishing a neck behind the 28/1 winner.

I’m a huge fan of Donnacha O’Brien’s Porta Fortuna. She has the figures in the book to land victory at Royal Ascot, and has been hugely unfortunate not to have landed a top-level success over the mile to this point. We fully expect her to come on from her second in the 1,000 Guineas at the start of last month.
