Before Betting on Spann vs. Guskov UFC on ESPN 55 Fight

Ryan Spann is a grappling expert who’s 21-9 overall with 12 wins by submission and six by knockout/technical knockout. He’s fought the who’s who of the UFC Light Heavyweight division, beating such elite opponents as Ion Cutelaba and Dominick Reyes amongst others.

The win over Reyes happened in 2022 and is the last time he beat someone. Since then, he’s 0-2, which may sound bad, but there is a caveat. In his most recent fight, he lost to Anthony Smith in a rematch by a split decision.

It happened in August 2023, meaning that he’s had plenty of time to work on his comeback. Spann will return to the Octagon on Saturday, April 27, 2024, against Bogdan Guskov.

The Uzbekistan-based fighter is 15-3 overall with 13 wins by KO/TKO. However, he hasn’t fought too many elite opponents in his career. Actually, he’s only fought twice in the UFC.

On his debut, he lost to Volkan Oezdemir by submission. He made it 1-1 in the UFC last February with a first-round KO win over Zac Pauga. Can he win again?

Spann is aware of the devastating force Guskov has in his fists, which is why he’s going to take this fight seriously. We’ll probably see him try and make a takedown, which would help him finish his opponent on the ground.
