The Spurs and Warriors have developed a nice rivalry in recent seasons, and they are two of the top teams in the Western Conference again this season. San Antonio won the only other meeting against the Warriors this season, but this is a different Warriors team. Both teams have been playing great basketball of late, and this should be a great game.
Golden State has won 12 of their last 13 games, and they have taken control of the Pacific Division. The Warriors bring a 37-15 record into this game and look like the favorites to win the NBA title again. San Antonio just had their five-game winning streak snapped in their last game, but are still leading the Southwest division. The Warriors are 9.5 point favorites over the Spurs in this game.
Warriors Offense Looking Sharp
Golden State only managed to score 92 points in their first meeting against the Spurs, but they have been rolling of late. The Warriors are averaging a league-high 118.7 points per game, and also lead the NBA in 29.3 assists per contest. Golden State has the ability to put up points in a hurry, and they are almost impossible to stop at Oracle Arena. The Spurs defense will have their hands full in this game.
Stephen Curry is having another monster season, leading the team with 29.2 points per game, and is making more than 45 percent of his three-point attempts. There has been plenty of drama surrounding Kevin Durant this season, but he is still pouring in more than 27 points per game. Curry and Durant are the clear leaders of the Warriors team, but they have plenty of depth to back them up.
Spurs Struggle Away From Home
The San Antonio Spurs have been awful playing on the road so far this season. The Spurs have gone just 10-16 away from San Antonio so far this season, and playing at Oracle Arena will be their toughest test yet. San Antonio is right around league average in both points scored and points allowed, but they have been able to win a ton of close games of late.
DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge have been having huge seasons for the Spurs, but they could use some help on the offensive end. DeRozan leads the team with 21.3 points and 6.2 assists per game this season and has been a nice replacement for the loss of Kawhi Leonard. Aldridge has not always seen eye to eye with Gregg Popovich, but they appear to have things figured out. Aldridge is averaging 21.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season and should be able to find some success in this game.
Warriors Blow Out Spurs
The Spurs got the better of the Warriors in the first meeting of the season, but that won’t happen in this one. Golden State has been blowing out almost everyone of late, and they are too tough to beat at home. San Antonio has had a history of upsetting the Warriors, but this isn’t the same Spurs team.
