Al Fateh vs. Al-Ettifaq is one of this week’s biggest Saudi Pro League matchups.

The league returns following the international break this weekend, and the pressure appears to have eased on Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq after an eye-catching start to the 2024-25 season. They will chase a third straight success when they take on Al Fateh on Saturday.

Before Betting on the Saudi Pro League

Questions were asked of Steven Gerrard’s future at Al-Ettifaq after finishing the 2023-24 season in a disappointing sixth-place finish. However, despite winning just 12 of their 34 matches last term, the former Liverpool star was given assurances surrounding his future, and that decision to stick with their man already appears to have been vindicated in the early stages of this season.

The Saudi club have started the new campaign with victories in each of their opening two matches, keeping back-to-back clean sheets for the first time under Gerrard. Confidence levels will be high ahead of this showdown after securing a 1-0 success over Al Akhdoud before the break in play, with Moussa Dembele netting the only goal in that win.

There was little to separate these sides based on their finishing positions last term, with Al Fateh finishing just a place lower than Al-Ettifaq. Cristian Tello was the team’s shining star last season, netting a club-high of eleven goals in the Saudi Pro League. However, questions have been asked surrounding their ability to progress after losing their top scorer.

They come into this round of matches after winning once in their opening two matches this term. They quickly bounced back following a heavy defeat on matchday one in their previous outing, with Djaniny netting the only goal in a 1-0 success against Al-Ahli at the Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium on August 27.
