Sean Strickland and Abus Magomedov are in the main event of the UFC on ESPN 48. The two middleweight fighters seek a win each for their own reasons. Strickland to get back into the elite echelon of the division, and Magomedov to make his name and become relevant.
Before Betting on Strickland vs. Magomedov
Strickland defeated Nassourdine Imavov in his previous appearance in the octagon. It was a unanimous decision victory and a big boost of morale after consecutive losses to Pereira and Cannonier. The first was by a KO, and the second was a shady split-decision triumph.
Strickland is one of the best boxers in the division, and his punching speed and volume of shots are incredible. He also has a solid chin (despite losing to Pereira) and very good cardio, which got him several decision victories in the past. The Tarzan beat Jack Hermansson, Uriah Hall, Brendan Allen, Krzysztof Jotko, in the past and has a good background.
Magomedov comes from Dagestan, Russia, but trains and fights out Germany. He debuted in the UFC the last time he showed up in the octagon, against Dustin Stoltzfus. It was a knockout after 19 seconds, and a flying debut in the biggest MMA organization in the world.
Abus is a strong puncher, with 14 knockouts in 25 wins. Magomedov lost four times, most recently to Louis Taylor, who KOd him five years ago in the PFL championship. The 32-year-old is a solid wrestler, but he prefers to stay in stand-up and fight from there.
