The inaugural UFL season is underway following the XFL-USFL merger. This Week 3 game features a clash between the Memphis Showboats (1-1) and the Birmingham Stallions (2-0). The Stallions are 7-point favorites at home in this matchup.
Before Betting on Showboats vs Stallions
Memphis collapsed down the stretch in their Week 2 game against the Brahmas. They led 16-0 entering the 4th quarter, but were outscored 20-3 in the final period. It was a brutal defeat at home for a Showboats team that would have improved to 2-0 had they won. They’ll have a chance to bounce back against the 2-0 Stallions this week.
QB Case Cookus played decently in the loss to San Antonio, completing 17 of 31 passes for 194 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He will be aiming to build on his performance this week, most notably working to eliminate 50/50 balls that have a high chance at being intercepted. The Showboats will also need their defense to heat up to have a chance at winning in Birmingham.
The Stallions improved to 2-0 in their win over the Panthers, riding their top-ranked defense to another victory. After giving up just 27 total points in the first two weeks, Birmingham has proven itself to be one of the UFL’s top teams in the early season. While their defense swarmed Michigan, their offense was not quite as impressive.
QBs Adrian Martinez and Matt Corral combined to complete 13 of 27 passes for 141 yards and an interception. They’ll need to take a notable step forward this week to remain unbeaten. Birmingham’s defense gives them some breathing room, but their quarterbacks’ performance against the Panthers was lacking in many ways. The Stallions need them to improve this week to hold off the Showboats.
Showboats vs Stallions Offshore Odds
If Memphis had held on in the 4th quarter of their game against the Brahmas, both of these teams would still be undefeated. They dominated their competition in seven out of eight quarters this season, but had their worst play in the most recent one. It will be tough to topple 2-0 Birmingham on the road while attempting to get back on track. They have a much better chance of covering the 7-point spread.
