It’s incredibly difficult to keep up with everything that goes on during in the world of soccer, from ridiculous red cards, viral reactions, shock results and odd injuries.

So, to keep you updated with everything that happened in soccer games this weekend, here’s a roundup of some of the unusual things you may have missed.

Harry Maguire’s Miss

In the big game of the weekend, Liverpool hosted Manchester United in the Premier League. With the game poised at 2-2, United launched a counter-attack, the ball fell to defender Harry Maguire on the penalty spot, with the player blasting his shot over the bar.

The miss was the last chance of the game, leaving United without a league win in five games. Whilst the performance was better, the woes grow for Ruben Amorim.

Swindon Town’s Own Goal Shocker

In the English Football League, Swindon Town faced Notts County, with the latter side looking to strengthen their position in the division’s play-off places.

As it happened, Swindon seemed more than happy to help County with that proposition, as they conceded an own-goal for the ages.

Striker, David McGoldrick headed the ball up, and across the goal, defender Ryan Delaney could have cleared the ball with a simple header. Instead, he chose to comically head the ball into his own net from a yard out.

Vinicius Junior sees Red

Real Madrid headed to Valencia on Friday night, with Los Blancos looking to go top of the La Liga table.

Whilst Madrid would come out with the win, it wasn’t plain sailing at all.

Star forward, Vinicius Junior was sent off ten minutes before full-time. Following an exchange with Valencia goalkeeper, Stole Dimitrievski, Vinicius took it personally shoving the keeper down.

After a furious reaction to the Referee’s decision, the Brazilian was escorted from the pitch.

Luckily for him, Madrid would leave as 2-1 winners.

Trent Alexander Arnold’s Bad Day

Running it back to the Liverpool vs. Manchester United game.

Much was made of Trent Alexander Arnold’s performance, following growing links with a move to Real Madrid.

The defender struggled to contain the likes of Amad Diallo, often finding himself out of position.

Social media was quick to point out his performance, with Roy Keane stating he was closer to a move to Tranmere Rovers rather than the Spanish giants.

Josh Windass’s Halfway Line Screamer

Whilst this didn’t take place over the weekend, it is simply too good to not include.

Back in the English Football League, Sheffield Wednesday hosted Derby County last week.

At 1-0, Wednesday’s Josh Windass saw the keeper off his line, sized it up and took his chances from inside his own half, finding the bottom of the corner to score a goal for the history books.
