Another weekend of high-quality action in France’s Ligue 1 will get underway on Friday, with all of the major teams in the country in action. You can find our Ligue 1 soccer picks for matchday 14 below.
Ligue 1 Soccer Picks
Lille vs. Brest
Lille have a miserable recent record against Brest, winning just two of the last eight Ligue 1 meetings. However, they have only suffered one defeat in their last 23 matches against their opponents.
This season’s form also reads well, as Lille have avoided defeat in all 13 matches across all competitions this season. Therefore, it is hard to overlook the home team against a Brest side that have lost six from nine on the road this season.
Auxerre vs. PSG
Auxerre boast a winning record against PSG, winning 32 times and losing on just 21 occasions. However, the Parisians have only failed to score in three of their matches against promoted sides in the last 15 seasons.
Auxerre’s home form ensures that they command respect, having won each of their last four. But, PSG are unbeaten in 30 matches on the road, and looks a sound chance to maintain that sequence on Friday.
Monaco vs. Toulouse
Monaco have suffered defeats in each of their last two home matches against Toulouse.
They also come into this round after losing successive fixtures across all competitions after opening the scoring, which is as many defeats as they had suffered in their previous 55. Toulouse could be an interesting play on Saturday, as they have won four of their last five in Ligue 1.
Nice vs. Le Havre
Nice have an excellent record in this fixture at the Allianz Riviera, having won three of their last four. That positive run comes after going winless in seven against Le Havre.
However, the recent home of the hosts would be a concern, as they have conceded 13 goals in nine home matches this season. But, they should have the quality to get past Le Havre, who have already lost ten times this season.
Angers vs. Lyon
Despite their off-field issues, Lyon have been in excellent form this season, avoiding defeat in each of their last eight.
They also come into this weekend after losing just two of their last 26 matches against newly promoted sides. Angers have struggled defensively this term, keeping just one clean sheet in 15 home matches throughout 2024.
Lens vs. Montpellier
Lens have an excellent win percentage against Montpellier after winning 48% of the head-to-head clashes between the sides. They come into this round after losing last weekend, but they haven’t suffered successive home defeats since January 2021.
That run looks unlikely to end, given that Montpellier have already lost their first six away matches in Ligue 1 this season.
Nantes vs. Rennes
Rennes have won each of the last four meetings between these sides, with the latest win for Nantes coming in May 2022. Nantes have also struggled across all competitions this season, failing to win in their last ten.
Rennes haven’t recorded back-to-back top-flight wins since February 2024, but this weekend could provide a golden opportunity.
Strasbourg vs. Reims
The home side boasts an excellent record in this fixture, losing just once in the last 14 head-to-head matches between the teams. However, Strasbourg comes into the round after losing each of their last four.
Reims haven’t fared much better, losing four of their previous six. Cases can be made for both sides this weekend, but Strasbourg’s leaky defense means that the preference is for the visitors.
St. Etienne vs. Marseille
A fascinating clash on Sunday evening rounds off the Ligue 1 action. Marseille are enjoying their best start to a top-flight season in the 21st century, winning 26 points from their opening 13 matches.
St. Etienne have been in strong recent form after winning four of their last five home matches. However, their defensive record is a major concern this weekend, as they have conceded 30 goals in 13 matches, which is their second-highest at this stage since the 1950s.
