Champions League Soccer Picks
Red Star vs. Stuttgart
Stuttgart were excellent in their previous match on the road in the competition, beating Juventus.
However, they haven’t recorded successive away wins in their Champions League history. But, Red Star’s performances in the competition have been well below the standard required.
The home side have lost each of their last eight in the tournament, ranking among the longest losing sequences in Champions League history. Things are unlikely to get better on Wednesday.
Sturm Graz vs. Girona
Sturm Graz have never previously recorded a win against Spanish opposition, losing five of their six matches.
In the Champions League, they have lost all four, conceding 18 goals in the process. Girona are yet to win in their two away matches in the Champions League without scoring.
However, this Wednesday’s showdown could present the La Liga side with a perfect opportunity to break their duck.
Bologna vs. Lille
Bologna are winless in their last four matches against French sides, which includes a 1-0 loss against Monaco on matchday four.
Meanwhile, Lille have recorded one win in their five Champions League matches against Italian sides. Bologna’s scoring record is a point for obvious concern, as they are the only team without a goal in this season’s competition.
Lille’s outstanding group stage record in the Champions League could be a solid angle, as they have lost just once in eight matches at this stage of the tournament.
Celtic vs. Club Brugge
Celtic are enjoying a memorable Champions League campaign this term, winning two of their four matches.
That is as many victories as they had recorded across the previous four group stage campaigns. Club Brugge landed a win over Aston Villa in the previous round, but they have scored just four goals in their last nine matches.
Celtic have been excellent in the final third, scoring nine in four. A home win could be difficult to overlook on Wednesday.
PSV vs. Shakhtar Donetsk
PSV have lost three of their last four matches against teams from Ukraine. However, the Dutch side come into this round looking to win back-to-back matches in the competition for just the second time in the last seven seasons.
Shakhtar have won four of their last nine, striking a return to form after winning just four in 26.
But, the narrow preference is for the hosts, who have avoided defeat in their last ten matches against sides that have never featured in a Champions League final.
