Before Betting On Soudal Open

A competitive field has been assembled for the Soudal Open this weekend. The event now boasts a purse of $2.5 million, and it has been staged since 1910. However, it made its return to the European Tour schedule back in 2018 after being absent since 2000.

Following its return, it was staged as a knockout tournament in the hope that it would attract more attention from mainstream fans. However, this experiment appears to have failed, as it reverted back to a stroke play event in 2022. The field will compete over a total distance of 6,924 yards at the event this weekend, with the record score currently held by Lee Westwood.

Simon Forsstrom is the reigning champion after finishing a shot clear of Jens Dantorp in 2023. Sam Horsfield also has recent winning experience at the competition after holding off threats from Ryan Fox and Yannik Paul to win the 2022 edition by two strokes.

Jordan Smith appears to be a solid contender this weekend, as the Englishman has been performing at a high level throughout the season. The 31-year-old caught the eye at the PGA Championship last weekend when finishing seven-under to claim a top in the top 40. Yannick Paul also has interesting claims based on his previous form at the course.
