The semi-finals at the Women’s World Cup get underway this week, as the finalists will be determined. The first of the last four clashes will be staged in New Zealand, as Spain will be looking to reach their first final when they take on Sweden on Tuesday morning.
Before Betting On Spain vs Sweden
A first ever World Cup showdown between Spain and Sweden will take place at the competition on Tuesday. The two nations have only met at a major tournament on one previous occasion, as the Swedes landed a 1-0 win in the group stage at EURO 1997.
This is the first time that Spain will take part at the semi-final stage at the Women’s World Cup. It is only their third appearance at the competition. Therefore, if they land victory over Sweden, they will make the final, then only Germany, Norway, USA, and the Netherlands would have made the final in fewer attempts.
Meanwhile, Sweden are experienced at this stage of the competition, as they will be playing in their fifth semi-final at the competition. They made the final in 2003, but have lost at this stage of the tournament in 1991, 2011, and 2019. In their previous appearance, they managed to finish third, beating England in France.
Spain could make history by reaching the final, as they could become the second nation to have lost by four goals in the group stage before reaching the showpiece match. Sweden could become only the third European nation to reach multiple World Cup finals.
Spain have already excelled against European opposition in the knockout stage this year, as they have eliminated teams from the region in each of the previous two rounds.
Spain vs Sweden Offshore Odds & Pick
The Spanish have really grown into the competition as it has progressed this summer. We sided with them to win the tournament before a ball was kicked, and we expect them to reach the final for the first time in their history.
