Tottenham Hotspur have been in great form over recent weeks in the Premier League. Spurs have won their last three in the top-flight in England, with one of those victories coming against Manchester City. However, over the past couple of days their odds with these leading sportsbooks for football have dropped on a potential top-four finish.

According to the bookmakers, Tottenham are now unlikely to be playing their football in the Champions League next season as they have lost crucial first-team players. As well as that, they were handed a footballing lesson in the Champions League on Wednesday evening as they suffered defeat against RB Leipzig. The German side bossed possession from start to finish, and now take a 1-0 advantage into the second leg.

Heung Min-Son Out For Season

It was a disappointing day for Spurs fans both on and off the pitch on Wednesday, as it emerged that their South Korean striker Heung Min-Son will be out for the remainder of the season after picking up a broken elbow. The injury was sustained in their victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League, where Son scored the winner in the 94th minute.

The South Korean will join Harry Kane on the treatment table for the immediate future. There is still no clear comeback date scheduled for Kane, but both England and Spurs will be hoping that it is soon. Jose Mourinho has already lamented the injury problems that he has inherited at Spurs, with Tanguy Ndombele a frequent cause of annoyance for the Portuguese manager. However, Tottenham’s hopes of achieving a Champions League finish will now hinge on the goalscoring ability of Lucas Moura.

Tottenham’s Striking Options

Moura is the only first-team player that can play through the middle, but his record this season won’t bring much cause for optimism. The Brazilian has scored just five goals in the Premier League this season. Also, he has only found the net once in the Champions League. Spurs could instead look to winter signing Steven Bergwijn to play through the middle.

The Dutchman has played that role before during his time at PSV, but he is undoubtedbly more effective on one of the wings. Mourinho could instead look to his youth squad and give a first-team opportunity to a player that many of the fans have been crying out to see. Troy Parrott is the player that could be called upon, and he has already demonstrated his abilities in front of goal for the U19s this season.

The 18-year-old has already been named in a few Republic of Ireland senior squads without even having played a minute for Tottenham’s senior side. He has scored six goals at U19 level this season, and Mourinho blocked a move away from the club for Parrott in the winter window, as he declared that he would be given a chance to impress for the first team. These are desperate times for Spurs, which means Parrott could be the man that they call upon to make the difference.
