A busy weekend of third round ties in the FA Cup are staged this weekend, with teams competing for a place in the fourth round. Championship side Stoke City will have home advantage for their third round showdown against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Before Betting On Stoke vs Brighton

Stoke and Brighton will be no strangers to one another ahead of this showdown at the Bet365 Stadium. It is the second straight season in which these two sides have clashed in the FA Cup, with the Seagulls landing a 1-0 win in the fifth round last term. However, that remains Brighton’s only victory in 18 previous visits to Stoke. The Potters have won nine of the 18 clashes between the sides, with eight clashes ending in draws.

Stoke have underperformed against Premier League opposition in the FA Cup, having lost each of their last eight against sides in England’s top division. In fact, their most recent win was a 5-0 success in the 2010-11 season to reach the final of the competition.

Their recent form would be a pressing concern ahead of this showdown, as Stoke have recorded just a single win from their last five in the Championship. Their only victory was a 3-1 success on the road against Birmingham on Boxing Day.

Brighton could be the standout play this weekend, as the Seagulls have been excellent in the third round of the competition. They have suffered just a single defeat from their last seven at this stage of the competition. Brighton could also be confident of going one better than last term when they reached the final four stage.
