Super Bowl LVII is set to be a terrific matchup between two superstar quarterbacks: Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes. The Eagles are a slight favorite, but there are plenty of props to examine for The Big Game on Sunday.
Patrick Mahomes Is Back In The Super Bowl
The Kansas City Chiefs have been in the Super Bowl a lot lately, and Patrick Mahomes is the main reason why. Even with an injured ankle, the Chiefs’ star quarterback should be the main focal point as head coach Andy Reid looks to be his former employer.
Both of these offenses are toward the top in the NFL, but the Chiefs lack of rushing attack might mean more work for Mahomes and the passing game. Moreover, tight end Travis Kelce is one of the best players on the field between both teams, and his relationship with Mahomes in big games is one to watch.
JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdez-Scantling could also see heavy targets, with running backs Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco expected to see some volume as well.
Mahomes threw for just 195 yards in the first playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he threw for 326 with two scores against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC title game, so the ankle doesn’t seem to be bothering him very much.

Passing Yards Prediction
Let’s break this down a bit: On the year, Mahomes is averaging 308.8 passing yards per game. Yes, the ankle is an issue, but Mahomes is as tough as they come. He has thrown for 270 yards and 286 yards in his first two Super Bowl matchups, and it was against the Buccaneers and 49ers, two teams with solid defenses.
The Eagles defense has played well lately, giving up just 135 yards to Daniel Jones and only 83 yards to the 49ers — although that was with an injured Brock Ourdy and Josh Johnson. This same defense allowed 347 to Dak Prescott, and 254 combined between Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.
Mahomes will need to pass the ball a lot for the Chiefs to have a chance, and he will at least go over the 300-yard mark on the biggest stage.
Prediction: Patrick Mahomes 306+ (+100)
