The quarterfinals of the ATP Masters in Madrid bring a battle between Taylor Fritz and Francisco Cerundolo. The clay surface should favor the Argentinian players, but in this particular case, Fritz is a slight favorite.

Before Betting on Taylor Fritz vs. Francisco Cerundolo

Fritz was looking good so far, not losing a set in the opening three matches of the tournament. After beating Dardei in the first round, he was better than Sebastian Baez, and following this, he eliminated Hubert Hurkacz.

His first serve was working well, with 66% success, and the main difference between him and the rival was unforced errors, with him having just five and the Polish player 19.

On the other side is Cerundolo, whose schedule was a bit more challenging. His victim in the first round was Marozsan, whom the Argentinian beat in straight sets, then he defeated Tommy Paul, 2-1, and lastly, Alexander Zverev, 2-0.

No.22 in the rankings did the job in an hour and a half, 6-3, 6-4, saving both of the rival’s breakpoints and converting two of three of his own. Interesting data is that he had 10 more winners than Zverev, 19-9.

Taylor Fritz vs. Francisco Cerundolo Head to Head

The two met at last year’s French Open Round of 16, and the Argentinian had more success, winning 3-1. He would lose the first set and then come back to easily dispatch the rival – 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

Cerundolo is better on clay, and when looking at his previous rivals, we believe he has solid chances to win here, even though the bookies think otherwise. For those who have some doubts about it, taking him to defend the -3.5 games spread is an excellent choice. Bear in mind that this is an alternative handicap line.
