The AFC South champion Houston Texans (9-7) visit the Tennessee Titans (3-13). This game is meaningless to Houston as it gears up for the playoffs. Tennessee is currently picking second in the 2025 NFL draft and they desperately need a quarterback. Since New England likely has the first overall pick and does not need a quarterback, the Titans will get the one they want… if they make sure to lose to Houston. Our Texans vs Titans prediction is for Houston to win the game outright.
Head-to-head, Tennessee leads with a record of 24-21.
Offshore Odds: For Some Reason, the Titans Are Favored
Team | Spread | Money Line | Total |
---|---|---|---|

Titans | -1.5 (-110) | -129 | U 36.5 (-110) |
Houston Will Play Some Starters, At Least Briefly
As the AFC South champions, the Texans are locked into the 4 seed. They are simply waiting to see who they’ll play. They have had 10 days off since their Christmas Day loss to Baltimore, a 31-2 embarrassment. Head coach DeMeco Ryans said some starters will play, but they’ll “see how the game goes.”
It’s unwise to sit everyone. They don’t want to go into the Wild Card with C.J. Stroud, Joe Mixon, Nico Collins, Dalton Schultz, and Derek Stingley Jr., et al, being without game action for such a long time. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair is back from his suspension for his knockout late hit on Trevor Lawrence. He needs to play to get back into the gameday mindset.
Apart from that, don’t expect them to play long. Davis Mills will be in at quarterback sooner rather than later. The same is true for other backups.
Winning is the Dumbest Thing Tennessee Could Do
Depending on how the weekend goes, a Titans win could conceivably drop them to seventh in the 2025 draft. Given their desperation for a quarterback, going from two to seven is a precipitous and potential franchise-altering drop.
It is a ridiculous thing to do.
They are turning back to Will Levis as the starting quarterback. Reading between the lines and looking at the season-long tension between Levis and head coach Brian Callahan, it’s not difficult to discern why. In addition, Tennessee has listed the following players as out: Tyler Boyd, Amani Hooker, Tyjae Spears, and Arden Key. Questionable are Tony Pollard and Chigoziem Okonkwo.
Texans vs Titans Prediction: Houston Will Win Because Tennessee Needs to Lose
Tennessee being favored is inexplicable given the circumstances. The Texans will win the game outright and the Titans will make sure of it.
At least they’d better.
