Whoever comes out on top of the 2023 Big 12 tournament will have earned it, because this has been the best conference in the country this season. Texas Tech (16-15) and West Virginia (18-13) didn’t do themselves any favors by missing out on byes for the week, but one team will at least advance to round two (where they’ll play Kansas) with a win on Wednesday.

Before Betting on Texas Tech vs West Virginia

Texas Tech will have to battle through a bit of adversity here as coach Mark Adams has been suspended for what the university has deemed insensitive comments. That’s not an ideal situation, but at the same time sometimes a team can get reinvigorated with a coaching change – however temporary or long term this may be.

Both schools are fighting for their tournament lives here. West Virginia is in the better position and may clinch a spot in the field of 68 with a win over the Red Raiders. An 18-13 record for the Mountaineers doesn’t look that great on paper until you consider the Mountaineers played the 6th toughest schedule in the country.

These two teams split their regular season series with each getting a win on the other’s home court. WVU had the more impressive victory 76-61 on the road on January 25th while Texas Tech was able to get a 78-72 win in Morgantown in mid February. The schools have split their last 10 meetings head to head.

Texas Tech vs West Virginia Prediction & Pick

Texas Tech comes in on a 3-game losing streak, but those defeats came by a combined 8 points. The Red Raiders may actually get a boost of energy from a coaching change and the +4.5 points is too many in this evenly matched neutral site game.

Pick: Texas Tech +4.5
