One of the most exciting cricket events on the calendar gets underway in August, as the second edition of The Hundred looks set to capture the imagination. The inaugural edition last summer attracted a whole new audience to the sport, as the 100-ball format saw the worlds biggest stars compete in the shorter format.

Before Betting On The Hundred 2022

The Hundred will see the eight teams involved compete against one another in the group stages, before the top-ranked side progresses straight to the final. The teams that finish second and third then clash in an Eliminator, with the winner competing in the final.

Southern Brave were crowned the inaugural champions in the men’s competition, that was despite the fact that they were missing one of their most crucial players throughout the competition, Jofra Archer. James Vince was their most important player with the bat, as he smashed 229 runs in the nine games that he played, with his highest score being the 60 he scored in the group stages.

The Birmingham Phoenix are likely to be the biggest dangers once again, as they topped the regular season standings in 2021 with six wins from eight games. However, they would eventually come up short in the final, as they lost by 32 runs against the Brave. However, with arguably one of the best batters in the 100-ball format, they will be back with a strong challenge next year. Liam Livingstone was the highest run-scorer last year with 348, while Moeen Ali is undeniably one of the best all-rounders in the competition.

Trent Rockets will also be a dangerous side in the 2022 season, as they once again boast one of the best attacks. Marchant de Lange took the joint-most wickets in the competition with 12, while teammate Rashid Khan also took the same number. However, they eventually came up short in the eliminator, as they lacked the cutting edge with the bat. That should be different with England star Joe Root playing for the Rockets this year.

The Birmingham Phoenix look the best price in the betting at +600. Livingstone will once again be battling to be the highest scoring batter, while Moeen Ali and Will Smeed can also offer excellent cover. Ali’s ability with the ball and bat continues to be undervalued in the shorter format, while Imran Tahir’s spin offers a spin approach in the offense.
