The first golf major of the season is getting ever closer, with the world’s best players set to compete for the esteemed Green jacket at Augusta across the middle weekend in April. But, which player will land success at the first major of the season?

Before Betting On The Masters

One of the biggest sporting events of the year so far will get underway in April, as the Masters will take place at Augusta National Golf Club. The iconic event is the first of the major events on the calendar this year, with the field competing for their share of the $18 million purse. The event will cover a total distance of 7,555 yards, with the tournament being a par 72 event.

Dustin Johnson holds the tournament record score at The Masters, finishing 20-under when scoring 268 to land victory in 2020. Jon Rahm comes into this year’s event as the defending champion, with the Spanish star finishing four shots clear of American pair Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson last year.

Rahm will have extra eyes on him this weekend, as he competes in his first major since swapping the PGA Tour for LIV Golf. Scottie Scheffler comes into the event in excellent recent form, and he was the winner of the 2022 Masters, finishing three shots clear of Rory McIlroy. Scheffler was in excellent form at the recent Players Championship, shooting eight-under to win by a shot from Xander Schauffele.

Rory McIlroy has played in more events over the opening months of the season this year in the hope of playing some of his best golf at the Masters. However, it has been ten years since his last major success, and the Northern Irish superstar is without a victory at the Masters, achieving a runner-up finish in 2022.
