The civil war in golf is set to become primetime viewing for fans of the sport across the world in December, as the 2024 edition of The Match was revealed on Wednesday evening. It was announced that PGA Tour stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will be joining forces to take on LIV rebels Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in Las Vegas.

Before Betting On PGA Tour vs LIV Challenge

Social media was sent crazy on Wednesday evening, as it was officially announced that the latest edition of The Match will pit stars from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf against each other. The TV showdown is set to be among the most-watched golfing events of the year as the civil war between the two tours finally becomes a primetime viewing event.

The Match has been a big hit among fans since its introduction in 2018, with TNT once again broadcasting the major event. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson collided in the first edition of the event, while McIlroy, Koepka, and DeChambeau have all featured in previous editions. Interestingly, the LIV partners for the 2024 Match previously collided in the event to settle their differences.

However, the deal is believed to be an indicator that relations between the PGA Tour and LIV has thawed, and joint events following a potential merger are closer than ever. McIlroy confirmed that he will be involved, and the teams are set to compete without prize money on offer.

But, that doesn’t make the showdown any less appealing, as it will feature four of the biggest stars in the sport against one another. Scheffler has been the dominant force on the tour this year, winning the Tour Championship last month to join with his two major victories. DeChambeau and Koepka both hold edges over McIlroy following the majors this season, with the prior beating the Northern Irishman by one shot at the US Open in June.

This will be a must-watch event for all golf fans, and it should make for compelling primetime viewing. However, given Scheffler’s form throughout this season, it appears hard to overlook the prospect of the PGA Tour getting the win over their rivals.
