The MLB season is heating up as it begins its second month. This game features a matchup between the 18-13 Detroit Tigers and the 20-13 New York Yankees. Detroit is off to a surprisingly good start and will be aiming to topple a perennial contender, the Yankees, in this series.

Before Betting on Tigers vs Yankees

The Tigers are off to a much better start than many expected. They currently rank 6th in the MLB in runs allowed, showcasing some excellent young pitching talent. On the other hand, they rank 18th in runs scored, needing a bit more juice on offense to keep up with teams like the Yankees.

Detroit boasts an impressive 10-4 road record on the season so far, despite a record of 8-9 at home. They’ll aim to build on that as they head to the Bronx to take on the Yankees over the weekend. RF Kerry Carpenter leads the team in batting average at just .269, illustrating the Tigers need for offense.

The Yankees got off to an excellent start to this season as well. They climbed to 12-3 after the first 15 games, appearing to be a front-runner to win the AL. That being said, New York has struggled quite a bit since then, going just 8-10 in the 18 games that followed.

While a home series against the Tigers may have been the perfect chance to get back on track in previous years, it may not be quite as easy this time around. For the Yankees to win, they need to exploit Detroit’s weaknesses on offense. It’ll be up to the starting pitchers to aid New York’s flailing offense in this series.

Detroit’s early-season success has been a surprise to many. It’ll be put to the test and then some during this road series against the Yankees, who perform historically well against the Tigers. New York is unlikely to sweep a Tigers team that has been winning consistently, but they should take two out of three in this series. Holes in the Yankees pitching rotation due to injuries will be key for Detroit to try and exploit.
