  • The Timberwolves beat the Clippers 108-80 in their last outing.
  • Breaking their losing streak, the Warriors won 99-93 last night.
  • This will be the first matchup this season between the Warriors and Timberwolves.

Take a look at our Timberwolves vs Warriors prediction as the two Western Conference foes face off for the first time this season. The Warriors are having a resurgent season with some new pieces, while the Timberwolves are still adjusting after trading away Karl-Anthony Towns right before the season.

Timberwolves Aim for an Upset

Minnesota is on a three game winning streak because they have been getting production from everybody. Often this season, the Timberwolves have leaned too heavily on Anthony Edwards, but they are starting to get more production out of the rest of the squad. Even though the Timberwolves have been off to a shaky start this season, the team matches up well with the Warriors, and Golden State may find it hard to match up with Rudy Gobert.

Anthony Edwards, with 26.7 points per game this season, is the star for the Timberwolves, but Julius Randle is getting more comfortable and is starting to look like he could play a 1B option as the season progresses. Pairing Randle with a defensive star like Rudy Gobert in the middle is helping Randle hide his defensive deficiencies, and that could lead to good things in the postseason if the team starts to build more chemistry.

Warriors Faces its Worst Nightmare

The Warriors, on the other hand, started the season hot, going 8-3 before losing five of their last six. They were able to manage a win last night even without Steph Curry and Draymond Green, who both were out with minor injuries. They will likely play tonight, and part of the reason they did not play last night was most likely not wanting to play on back-to-back nights.

With more opportunity, though, Jonathan Kuminga got more touches and was the go-to guy for Golden State last night, scoring a season-high 33 while tying his season-high with three made threes. If Kuminga can continue to improve his three-point shooting like he did last night, he could be developing into a star. The key tonight will be whether Kuminga can continue to get scoring chances even with Steph Curry and Draymond Green likely back in the lineup.

Timberwolves vs Warriors Prediction: Wolves Howling over Warriors

While home-court advantage and getting their stars back might make the Warriors favorites to win the game, the Timberwolves ability to match up better should help them pull off the upset.

Rudy Gobert will have a big game on the glass and shut down Golden State at the rim, While the Warriors will struggle to find a way to guard Anthony Edwards effectively. We think this game will be very tight, but Minnesota will be able to pull away late, winning 110-103.
