The big game in the Premier League on Sunday will see Tottenham welcome Newcastle United to North London. Both sides are in the hunt for a Champions League spot this term, and this weekend’s clash could offer clues as to which team to best placed to fight for a spot in the top four.

Before Betting On Tottenham vs Newcastle

There will be pressure on both Newcastle and Tottenham this weekend, as both clubs look to survive without key players out through injury. The Magpies have fared slightly better without some of their stars in recent weeks, as they have won three of their previous five matches in the Premier League. A victory away from home this weekend could put them within touching distance of a top four spot.

Tottenham will also be looking to get back on track after taking positives from a recent 3-3 draw against Manchester City. That tie at the Etihad ended a three-game losing sequence for Spurs, but a return to winning ways will desperately be required if they are to fight off a growing number of challengers for a European place.

Spurs suffered defeats in both Premier League matches against Newcastle last term, but, they have lost more than twice consecutively against the Magpies since falling to six losses on the bounce between 2006 and 2008. However, Newcastle have recorded a record eleven away wins against Spurs, which is their most against a single opponent in the competition.

It should be a high-scoring fixture this weekend, as matches between Newcastle and Tottenham have scored more goals scored per game than any other fixture in Premier League history. In fact, only Arsenal vs Tottenham has seen more first half goals scored than this Sunday’s match-up.
