The second road race of the NASCAR season takes place on Sunday, as the Toyota Save Mart will be staged at Sonoma Raceway in California. It has been a thrilling season of action to this point, but the race for playoff positions reaches a new level this weekend. The Save Mart 350 has been staged annually since 1989, with the field completing a total distance of 218.9 miles.

A total of 110 laps will be covered by the drivers involved on Sunday, with the first stage seeing the opening 25 laps contested. The next 35 laps will make up the second stage, with the final stage seeing the remaining 50 laps being completed. Jeff Gordon is the leading driver in the race after winning on five occasions during his career.

The race for playoff positions continued at the Enjoy Illinois 300 last weekend, with Denny Hamlin moving to the top of the standings after finishing second. Kyle Larson could only finish tenth, which saw him drop to second in the standings. Chase Elliott also furthered his claims after finishing 13th in the race.

Austin Cindric was the shock winner of the race, with the victory moving him up to 18th in the standings. It was only the second time this season that he has finished inside the top ten. Christopher Bell enjoyed another reliable weekend after finishing in the top ten for the third time in four races.
