Once one of the biggest NFL prospects and the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Trey Lance is reportedly leaving San Francisco. The 23-year-old isn’t in the combination for the starting lineup of the franchise from California, and most recently, he lost the battle for the backup position.
Before Betting on Trey Lance Next Team
After the news that Lance isn’t a backup in San Francisco broke out, rumors began circulating around the NFL that he might leave the 49ers. Some of the pundits even stated that both the team and the player consider trade options.
He was the two-time FCS champion while playing for the North Dakota State, a Walter Payton and Jerry Rice award winner, having a fantastic college career. The 49ers selected him third in the 2021 NFL Draft, with an intention to replace the veteran Jimmy Garoppolo with the youngster.
At the start of the 2022 season, he was named starter, but after two games picked up a season-ending injury. In the meantime, Brock Purdy established himself as the new starter, and during the summer, the team signed Sam Darnold, who became his backup.
Trey Lance Next Team Offshore Betting Odds
Lance is from Marshall, Minnesota, and that might have something to do with the fact that the Vikings are atop the favorites list for his trade. With Nick Mullens, Lance would have realistic chances of becoming the backup for Kirk Cousins and maybe his replacement once the 35-year-old leaves.
The Atlanta Falcons and the LA Rams are next. Both teams could use a talented QB on their roster. The Falcons’ top choice at this position is Taylor Heinicke, and Lance would get the chance to move up on the depth chart in Atlanta pretty fast. The Rams have nothing worth mentioning here, but Matt Stafford and the 2022 Super Bowl champs would also be a nice fit for Lance.
Miami Dolphins are next, followed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Las Vegas Raiders.
All of these teams would not only get a good backup QB, but a potential long-term starter if they manage his development well.
