- Tulane was stunned by Memphis at home last week, taking a tough 34-24 defeat.
- Army managed to climb back into the top-25 following their 29-24 win over UTSA.
- These two teams last met on November 14, 2020, in a game that Tulane won 38-12.
The Green Wave and the Black Knights enter this NCAAF game seeking to win the American conference. Our Tulane vs Army prediction sees Army winning a high-scoring thriller, but falling short of a CFP berth at 11-1.
Tulane Aiming to Bounce Back
Tulane tumbled out of the rankings after losing at home by ten points to Memphis. They still earned a spot in the AAC title game, but are no longer a CFP long shot. Even so, a 10th win and conference title are notable enough to make this game worth fighting for. The Green Wave have had an excellent offense all year. However, their defense had been up-and-down. They gave up 34 points to Memphis but 9 total in the three prior games.
Army Hoping to Sneak into CFP
Army is still hovering in CFP long shot territory, hoping to make it into the field by some miracle. They need to not only win this game, but blow Tulane out, effectively negating their loss to Notre Dame. Even if they pull that off, the Black Knights would still have a fractional chance to make the playoff. More realistically, they have their eyes on winning this game and beating Navy next week. A 13-1 result to end the season is a real possibility.
Tulane vs Army Prediction:
It’s a bit surprising to see Tulane favored in this game. While it’s true that they defeated Navy 35-0 on the road, they also looked subpar against Memphis. Tulane is 0-2 against ranked teams with their best wins coming against Louisiana and Navy. Expect them to be hit with an uphill climb against an Army team that is a tier above the others. Army can’t afford to fall behind with their rush-heavy attack. We see them winning this game 27-24.
