Citizens Trying to Forget the Past

Pep Guardiola and his guys suffered many frustrating exits from the UCL in the past, but they won’t give up on the plan to win the trophy. It is a matter of pride for them now, not just another piece of silverware. After three years in which City stood as the No.1 favorite for the trophy, many experts believe their peak has passed.

Knowing Guardiola, Aguero, and the rest of the guys wearing the sky-blue jersey, this is going to fuel them.

Man City didn’t open the season as planned, posting four wins, one loss and a draw each, but playing a bit less convincing than in the past. After four straight games with over 2.5 goals, the last two ended under that limit, but one of them was a 1-0 win against Arsenal.

Porto’s Recent Slips

The Dragons went on a cold streak at the worst possible time. The last two games were an awful experience for them, and the boys in blue-white jerseys want to forget them ASAP.

At first, they lost at home to Maritimo, 2-3, missing a penalty in the last minutes of the match and allowing the guests to score after that. This weekend, they had a big derby against Sporting, which ended 2-2. Many of you would say that one point against a fierce rival on the road is a solid result. However, Porto had a 2-1 lead and a player more on the field for the entire halftime before allowing an equalizer three minutes before the end.

So, when you look a little bit closer, you can see that Dragons suffered two nasty blows. By the way, all four matches they played since the start of this campaign were over 2.5 goals.

Head to Head Matches

These two teams met the last time in the Europa League round of 16 in the 2011/12 season. City was much better, beating the rivals with 6-1 on aggregate, the first game in Porto 1-2, and the second, 4-0.

Prediction

Manchester City’s plain win isn’t very valuable, but we can combine it with a high number of goals and make greater profits. Citizens to win with -1.5 spread is -125, and for us, that is almost a safe bet.

Meanwhile, the odds on seeing two goals in the first 45 minutes are +100. There won’t be any calculations from City’s side, which is why we predict a very offensive approach from the first minute. That would open lots of chances for scoring on both sides.
