Real Madrid come into their final group game of the Champions League knowing that they have the advantage over the Italian rivals. The Spanish giants have a slender two point advantage at the top of the standings, but that means any other result aside from defeat will mean that they will finish Group D as winner. Real’s only defeat in the Champions League this season was suffered in shocking fashion, as they were beaten 2-1 by Moldovan outfit Sheriff.
It was one of the biggest shocks in recent Champions League history, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side were able to recompose themselves after that defeat and secured their progression with a couple of games to play. They have won four of the five games that they have played in the competition this season, scoring 12 goals and allowing just three.
Inter Finally Overcome Group Stages
It has been a disappointing couple of years for Inter in the Champions League. Last season was the third successive campaign that they had been knocked out in the group stages of the competition. However, they finally look to have ended that run of bad luck, as their progression through to the next round of the competition has already been assured with a game still to play.
But, Inter will be keen to set up an easier tie in the next round of the competition, which will require them to finish top of the standings, and avoid the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool. Inter don’t have the best record against teams in Spain, as they are winless in their last seven trips to the country. They have lost six times during that run, with their last victory being a 5-1 success against Valencia back in October 2004. They have also won just once in their last eleven meetings with Spanish sides; home and away.

Real Madrid have dominated the previous meetings between the two sides. They have won their last three against Inter, with all three of these wins coming since the start of the 2020-21 season.
