Liverpool was hammered in the previous UCL round, experiencing one of the rare losses at home since Jurgen Klopp sat at the Reds’ bench. They would disappoint even further against Brighton in the following domestic game, which means that they now don’t have room for mistakes. On the other side, Ajax comes hoping that they, too, might win and surprise the big rival. With a win, or at least one point in this matchup, the Lancers would be very close to the knockout stage. The momentum is on their side following several pretty convincing wins, but the hosts are massive favorites despite that.

Losing Pace or Catching a Break?

That is the main question for all the Reds fans. Has their team finally lost its swing after a fabulous year in which they broke numerous records, or is this just a temporary slowdown? The next couple of weeks will give us the answer to that question, and the match against Ajax is just the first test on that stretch.

L’pool suffered an unpleasant surprise in Brighton against the Seagulls, returning home with just one point in its bag. But that is not the worst thing here, as hosts played much better, deserving to win according to the majority of those who observed the event. This was the third clash in the past four in which Klopp’s guys couldn’t win.

The Reds’ previous five matches at home all saw between two and three goals, signaling that they aren’t monstrous when it comes to efficiency, as they used to be.

Van Dijk, Shaqiri, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Gomes, and Alexander-Arnold are all out, while Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita remain doubtful.

Is Ajax Up for A Surprise?

The Lancers have six straight triumphs in which they scored 23 goals. In three of those games, they would hit the back of the rivals’ net five times. Their only defeat in the past 10 games came against Liverpool at home, 0-1, and this is only an additional motive for them to make a miracle at Anfield.

During the above-mentioned span, nine contests saw over 2.5 goals, and Ajax scored three or more goals on seven occasions. That reveals what their mentality on the field is. We need to say that the drop in quality compared to the previous years is visible, and all those outgoing transfers left a trace.

Kudus is the only player with injury troubles among the guests, and he won’t travel to Liverpool.

Head to Head Matches

Liverpool won on the road on October 21st, beating the hosts without scoring a goal. That one hit was delivered to the hosts by their player, Nicolas Tagliafico, who placed the ball into his own net.

Prediction

The odds on Liverpool’s victory are at -185, and that is great in these circumstances. The Reds will go full speed right from the start, and they won’t calculate, because of the significance of the match. So, don’t think too much, even if they look shaken, Liverpool should win this event without any problems.
