FC Porto and Juventus are clashing this Wednesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The two sides didn’t post good results this weekend, putting additional pressure on them to win the upcoming contest. Porto is aware that they need to triumph in this one in order to have some chances of eliminating Juve. However, the Old Lady suffered a great blow in Naples against Napoli, and we aren’t sure what’s going to be its reaction.

Dragons Losing the Grip

The no.1 candidates for winning the Portuguese league before the start of the championship, are now second in the standings, seven points away from Sporting, who has a game in hand. And not only, that the Dragons allowed the big rivals to run away in the past few weeks, with them having four consecutive draws.

Boavista is the latest rival that took points from Dragao, 2-2, with the note that Porto had a chance to win three minutes before the end, but missed a penalty. It is something that would no doubt haunt them if this negative skid continues.

On the other side, they haven’t lost at home in 14 consecutive matches. Porto’s offense is constant at Dragao, as they scored two or more goals in eight of the past nine games. Overall, they are tactically very well endowed, and know how to play on the result. Moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 goals, is often seen at their games, 8 of last nine at Dragao.

Juventus Dazzled in Naples

A 1-0 defeat against Napoli severely deteriorated Juve’s chances to win the title. They are still in the race to defend the silverware but with far fewer prospects than before. Yet, knowing Ronaldo and the boys, they can put up a stretch in March and April that would see them easily catching up with the rivals.

But to come back to our story here. After a loss in Naples, Juve travels to Porto, but before that, the Old Lady hasn’t lost in seven straight, keeping their net intact six times during that period. Their back line is looking great, and just to mention that the goal at San Paolo came from the penalty.

Cristiano Ronaldo will have a huge motive playing against a team that he dislikes, with the Portuguese superstar beginning his career in Sporting, one of the fiercest rivals Porto has.

Porto vs. Juventus Head to Head Matches

Porto and Juve met in the 2017 knockout stage, and the Old Lady won both matches, one at home, 1-0, and in Porto 0-2.

Porto vs. Juventus Pick and Prediction

A tough and very tactical matchup awaits us at Dragao, and have no doubts, there won’t be too many goals. Juve won’t rush, Porto as well. The recent poor results are still in their heads, and that is why we believe in low efficiency here. Under 2.5 goals is our choice, and don’t hesitate to take it.
