PSG On The Brink Of The Next Round
PSG look exceptionally good value in the soccer betting to reach the next stage of the Champions League, as they took firm control of this tie a couple of weeks ago in the away leg. It was one of the best away performances in the competition by the French side, as they picked up a 4-1 win at the Nou Camp, and there was no denying who the star of the show was. Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick in his first game against the famous Spanish club, and it looks incredibly unlikely that the French side will hand over the advantage back in Paris.
There will still be memories of the past meeting between these sides in this very competition, as PSG squandered a 4-0 first leg lead to be knocked out in the return game, but the chances of history repeating itself are incredibly slim. This PSG side are much more solid than that previous side, and with Mbappe in the forward line, it would be hard to see them failing to score a single goal back in Paris to kill off the tie.
Barcelona Need To Make History
The size of the Barcelona challenge for this fixture is massive, as no side has ever come back from a three-goal deficit from a home first leg to go through in the Champions League. The Catalonian side have struggled away from home in the knockout stages over recent seasons too, as they have won just one of their previous nine. Of course, it is always dangerous to bet against Barcelona, as they are side that have exceptional quality in the final third, and Lionel Messi has consistently dragged the Spanish club from the brink on countless occasions in the past.
However, this may be a bridge too far even for the magical Argentinean superstar. It wouldn’t be completely out of the question to see Barcelona score in the second leg, but there would be doubts surrounding whether they will be able to keep a clean sheet against such a vibrant forward line. There have been signs of improvement over recent weeks for Barcelona, as the pressure on Ronald Koeman has eased with the Catalonian side re-emerging in the La Liga title race, and have recently reached the final of the Copa del Rey after coming back from 2-0 down at the Nou Camp.
PSG vs Barcelona Pick
Barcelona have certainly improved recently, but it would seem incredibly hard to believe that they could pick up a 4-0 win in Paris. We expect PSG to score, and that will be enough to put the game out of reach.
