Dana White says UFC 306 is going to be the biggest sports event in history. If you agree with the UFC boss and want to bet on the September 14 event, you’re at the right place. In this post, we’re going to analyze every single fight on the card, dissecting the odds and sharing our top picks along the way.

UFC 306 Predictions

Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili

FighterOdds
Sean O’Malley-140
Merab Dvalishvili+120

The UFC 306 main event is a battle for the bantamweight title. O’Malley is the defending champion who got ahold of the championship belt last year after beating Aljamain Sterling by TKO. “Suga” defended his title last March against Marlon Vera, winning by unanimous decision.

It was a dominant performance by the champ, who landed 230 significant strikes against “Chito”, proving once again that he’s one of the best boxers in the UFC.

Striking is his forte, but O’Malley is also a very good grappler, which may come in handy against Merab Dvalishvili, who will almost certainly try to take the fight to the ground.

“The Machine” lands 6.43 takedowns per 15 minutes on average, which is a higher number than any of O’Malley’s previous opponents. It sounds great, but Merab rarely gets the job done on the floor. In fact, he only has one submission win in his portfolio.

Knowing this, we’re pretty confident that he won’t be able to finish O’Malley, but can he win by decision? Not if he gets beaten up by “Suga” which is exactly what we predict will happen.

Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko

FighterOdds
Alexa Grasso-142
Valentina Shevchenko+122

Alexa Grasso became the champion last year after pulling off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of women’s MMA. She entered the fight with Valentina Shevchenko as a +620 underdog, and for the first three and a half rounds, it seemed that bookies were right. But then, she did the unexpected and beat Valentina with a neck crank.

In the rematch, Grasso won again. This time, it was by a split decision, which Valentina was not pleased with. Their rivalry will reach the boiling point on September 14 when we predict Shevchenko will exact her revenge.

Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes

FighterOdds
Brian Ortega+151
Diego Lopes-176

Diego Lopes is a rising UFC star with plenty of weapons in his arsenal. Despite being four years younger than Brian Ortega, he’s fought 11 professional fights more than him. However, when it comes to fighting at an elite level, it’s Ortega who’s got the advantage.

In his most recent fight, “T-City” beat Yair Rodriguez with an arm-triangle choke, earning himself the Performance of the Night bonus. One more win like that and Ortega would have every right to hope for another shot at the title.

Daniel Zellhuber vs. Esteban Ribovics

FighterOdds
Daniel Zellhuber-250
Esteban Ribovics+210

Many believe that Daniel Zellhuber is the next big thing in the lightweight division. The 25-year-old Mexican is 15-1 overall, with his only loss happening by decision. He’s coming to Vegas after two brilliant performances, and we expect nothing less than that from the guy.

Ronaldo Rodriguez vs. Ode’ Osbourne

FighterOdds
Ronaldo Rodriguez-126
Ode’ Osbourne+106

Ronaldo Rodriguez did great on his UFC debut in February, beating his opponent by submission in the second round. Now, he’s facing Ode’ Osbourne who lost three of his last four fights, with two of those losses happening by submission. We suspect something similar might happen at the Sphere.

UFC 306 Prelims Predictions

Irene Aldana vs. Norma Dumont

FighterOdds
Irene Aldana-110
Norma Dumont-110

Irene Aldana is 15-7, which may not sound as impressive as the record of Norma Dumont, who is 11-2. However, most of Aldana’s losses happened against real legends of WMMA – Amanda Nunes, Holly Holm, etc. We think she’s a better fighter than Dumont and we think she’ll prove it at UFC 306.

Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Manuel Torres

FighterOdds
Ignacio Bahamondes+100
Manuel Torres-120

Ignacio Bahamondes is a 6’1 lightweight with incredible kickboxing skills. He demonstrated them in April when he KO-ed Christos Giagos, for which he won the Performance of the Night bonus. Fast-forward to September 14 and we think he’ll do something similar to Manuel Torres.

Yazmin Jauregui vs. Ketlen Souza

FighterOdds
Yazmin Jauregui-455
Ketlen Souza+355

After getting destroyed by Denise Gomez after just 20 seconds last year, Yazmin Jauregui bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Sam Hughes in Mexico City, where she had the crowd cheering from the bottom of their lungs in her favor. We predict the crowd will be on her side at the Sphere on Saturday night as well. That said, we expect the same level of performance from her.

Edgar Chairez vs. Joshua Van

FighterOdds
Edgar Chairez+190
Joshua Van-225

Edgar Chairez is one of the UFC 306 betting underdogs we think is going to prove oddsmakers wrong. His grappling skills are great, and he has more experience than Joshua Van. If he can stop Van from unleashing a hurricane of strikes on him, he could be able to get close to him and choke him into submission.

UFC 306 Early Prelims Prediction

Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Aoriqileng

FighterOdds
Raul Rosas Jr.-800
Aoriqileng+550

Raul Rosas Jr. is the biggest favorite of all the fighters on the UFC 306 fight card. His UFC 306 odds are -800, suggesting that there’s no way Aoriqileng can beat him. “El Nino Problema” is a well-rounded fighter, who, despite still being a teenager, has plenty of experience. Aoriqileng isn’t a bad fighter, but we think he’ll lose on Saturday.
