UFC 309 is set to deliver an unforgettable night on Saturday, November 16 at Maddison Square Garden. The main reason? It’s headlined by the much-anticipated Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic title fight.

While this heavyweight showdown takes center stage, there are several other exciting matchups on the card that are well worth your attention – and your bets!

From bankers like Charles Oliveira to underdog bets like Jonathan Martinez, we’ve got all sorts of UFC 309 predictions for you.

Jon Jones: GOAT or Not?

FighterOdds
Jon Jones-650
Stipe Miocic+450

Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic is a must-win for “Bones” if he wants to cement his GOAT status. He already has a fantastic portfolio, with 27 wins, one no-contest, and one loss.

The no-contest was originally a KO win over Daniel Cormier but was later overturned by the UFC after Jones tested positive for turinabol, which is on the list of PEDs. His only official loss — a 2009 DQ due to illegal elbows —could get overturned before UFC 309.

After dominating the light heavyweight division for ages, Jones took time off for three years, only to return stronger in 2023 at heavyweight.

He made a statement by submitting Ciryl Gane in just 2 minutes and 4 seconds. That happened some 600 days ago. Meanwhile, Jones’ UFC 309 opponent, Stipe Miocic (20-4) last fought 1,330 days ago.

And the last time he fought, he got KO-ed by Francis Ngannou. Our Jones vs. Miocic prediction is that the same thing will happen on November 16.

Charles Oliveira vs. Michael Chandler – Who’s Getting Back in the Spotlight?

FighterOdds
Charles Oliveira-250
Michael Chandler+210

Michael Chandler may be a big name in MMA, especially after his appearance in The Ultimate Fighter where he coached opposite Conor McGregor. However, he doesn’t seem like much of a threat to Charles Oliveira, at least not in 2024.

At the age of 38, Chandler’s overall record is 23-8, but in the UFC, he’s 2-3. And one of those losses happened to no other than “Do Bronx.”

Although Chandler did post some training footage on social media in which he looks shredded, the fact is that he hasn’t fought in a long time. His last appearance was in 2022 when he lost to Dustin Poirier by submission.

While he definitely has plenty of experience and a lot of power, he has struggled against top contenders in recent fights. Oliveira, with his grappling prowess, has the clear edge here. Chandler’s got the heart, but at this point, it may not be enough to get his revenge on Oliveira.

Bo Nickal vs. Paul Craig – Over in a Sec?

FighterOdds
Bo Nickal-1100
Paul Craig+600

Expect the Bo Nickal vs. Paul Craig fight to be over in a flash. Both fighters bring finishing power that makes this bout likely to end inside the distance.

Craig, with all 17 of his wins happening before the final bell, thrives in chaotic exchanges and can lock in submissions from nearly anywhere. He did precisely that against some big favorites, including Magomed Ankalaev who might get a shot at Light Heavyweight gold next year.

However, “Bear Jew” has never been such a huge underdog as he is ahead of his UFC 309 showdown with Bo Nickal.

No surprise there as Nickal is 6-0, with every victory a finish. Plus, five of those ended in the first round. This clash of Nickal’s aggressive wrestling and Craig’s submission skills points to an explosive start and a quick end. Bet on the fight to end in Round 1 and you won’t go wrong.

Other UFC 309 Predictions

  • Viviane Araujo (+225) vs. Karine Silva (-265) – Karine Silva
  • Chris Weidman (+155) vs. Eryk Anders (-180) – Eryk Anders
  • Jonathan Martinez (+100) vs. Marcus McGhee (-120) – Jonathan Martinez
  • Jim Miller (-105) vs. Damon Jackson (-115) – Damon Jackson
  • Mickey Gall (-110) vs. Ramiz Brahimaj (-110) – Mickey Gall
  • Bassil Hafez (+135) vs. Oban Elliot (-155) – Oban Elliot
  • Veronica Hardy (-155) vs. Eduarda Moura (-135) – Eduarda Moura

There you have it, all of our remaining UFC 309 predictions. As you can see, most of those are for favorites winning. However, there’s one underdog we believe could upset the odds on November 16. The man in question is Jonathan Martinez.

Although his six-fight win streak ended last May against Jose Aldo, that loss came on Aldo’s turf in Rio de Janeiro and only by decision. For “The Dragon,” that close fight is just more proof of his resilience and skill. Martinez has shown he can hang tough, even in hostile territory, and he’s coming into this bout with something to prove.
