The attention may all be on the opening leg of the Triple Crown in the US, with the Kentucky Derby taking place next Saturday. However, the Classic season in the United Kingdom gets underway this weekend, with Newmarket playing host to the 1000 Guineas and 2000 Guineas on Saturday. You can find the odds with the leading horse racing betting sites below.

The Classic weekend gets underway on Saturday with the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. This race was first run in 1809, and serves as the opening leg of the Triple Crown; followed by the Derby and St Leger. Last year’s winner of the race was Poetic Flare for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning.

There is an extremely hot favorite in the current betting, with Native Trail for Charlie Appleby and William Buick odds-on to win the Classic. The three-year-old has won on all five starts on track, including a victory earlier this month when he stormed to victory in the G3 Craven Stakes. That dominant showing, which saw him win by three and a half lengths from Claymore certainly makes him hard to take on this weekend.

Appleby also trains the second-favorite in the betting, as Coroebus could be a likely contender. This three-year-old returns for the first time since winning the G3 Autumn Stakes over this course and distance in October. If there is any value in the betting this weekend, then it looks to come in the form of Luxembourg.

This three-year-old has been dominant on all three starts, and is a two-time group winner. His latest win was an impressive showing in the G1 Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster in October. If returning at that level, he could be a value pick. However, the safe bet is to stick with Native Trail.

The attention will be on the three-year-old fillies at Newmarket on Sunday, as the prestigious 1000 Guineas takes place. This race was won by Mother Earth for Frankie Dettori and Aidan O’Brien last year. That victory gave O’Brien a third straight victory in the 1000 Guineas, and fifth win in six years. Once again, his chances are strong in the betting.

They are headed by Tenebrism, who has won on both her previous starts. However, her latest appearance came back in September when she landed the G1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes. She managed to hold onto the win by a length from Flotus. O’Brien’s other chance comes in the form of Tuesday, who made a winning return to the track at the end of March, as she landed victory in a race over a mile at Naas.

Wild Beauty could be an excellent value play for the red-hot Charlie Appleby, who is currently striking at 40%. This three-year-old was eye-catching on her return to the track, as she held off Jumbly to win the G3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury in April.

Instead, a chance could be taken on Zellie, who will certainly relish the step up in trip. Trainer Andre Fabre is striking at 20%, while Tom Marquand boasts a strike rate of 17%. She was last seen finishing second in the G3 Prix Imprudence at Deauville over seven furlongs, but the step up in trip is hugely beneficial for her chances.
