Before Betting
The United States Grand Prix will be a pivotal weekend in the battles for both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships in 2024. Sprint Race action will see the first points awarded of the weekend, before the Grand Prix is held on Sunday.
McLaren will be aware that victories in both races will be required for Lando Norris to continue to put Max Verstappen for the Drivers’ Championship. However, confidence levels around the team will be high after the Brit’s 20-second victory at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Mathematically, the championship race is still on, but Norris will need wins in every remaining Grand Prix and Sprint, and he will need Verstappen to endure some miserable weekends.
Daniel Ricciardo did his ex-Red Bull teammate a favor in Singapore by grabbing the Fastest Lap. That means that Verstappen will be crowned champion if he finishes second behind Norris in every remaining race this season.
Oscar Piastri could be easy to overlook in the betting this weekend, as the Australian will likely be used for the remainder of the season to aid his teammate’s title push.
Mercedes had excellent qualifying pace in Singapore, but split strategies ultimately cost them their chance of a podium, with Lewis Hamilton dropping to sixth.
Ferrari should have the pace to challenge in the United States in October. Charles Leclerc did an excellent job to recover in Singapore in September, finishing just a second behind George Russell in fourth.
However, their hopes in the United States will likely hinge on a positive qualifying.
United States Grand Prix Prediction
Lando Norris is fairly easy to back at the odds available, as he should be an odds-on shot following the dominance shown in Singapore.
He will be our main win pick. However, a return to a traditional circuit could see the Mercedes come alive, meaning that Lewis Hamilton is no outside chance to finish on the podium in Austin, Texas.
