The action at Flushing Meadows continues this week, as the second-round match-ups at the US Open get underway. The final match on court in the men’s draw on Wednesday will see Casper Ruud and Gael Monfils go head-to-head.

Before Betting On Casper Ruud vs Gael Monfils

A very interesting showdown in the second-round at the US Open will take place under the lights at Flushing Meadows this evening. Casper Ruud is among the top-ranked players in the men’s draw, and he made a very impressive start to the Grand Slam after landing a straight sets success against Bu Yunchaokete on Monday afternoon.

Ruud smashed down 14 aces in that success, and won a staggering 88% of the points on his first serve. However, he will need to cut out double faults and errors if he is to overcome Gael Monfils in New York on Tuesday evening.

Monfils will present a tougher examination for Ruud in the U.S. on Tuesday, with the French star reaching Grand Slam semi-finals on two occasions. That includes a run to the last four at the US Open in 2016. However, his form has dipped in recent years, despite maintaining his record of having won an ATP Tour title in each of the last 19 seasons.

But, there were flashes of the Frenchman’s best form in the first round, as he overcame a tough challenger in the form of Argentinean player Diego Schwartzman. Monfils eventually progressed in four sets after dropping the opener, converting on eight from 16 break point opportunities.
