The US Open Final in the women’s draw is set for Saturday, as Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula collide at Flushing Meadows. It should be a thrilling final in prospect at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but will there be more Grand Slam glory for Sabalenka, or a maiden title for Pegula?

One of the biggest women’s matches of the year will take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday, as the final of the Women’s US Open will be staged. It should be a fascinating contest between two of the top-ten seeds in the competition, but Sabalenka will likely come into the final showdown as the woman to beat.

The Belarusian reached the final at Flushing Meadows last year, before falling against Coco Gauff. However, she has looked back to her very best at the event this year following an injury that ruled her out of Wimbledon.

Sabalenka has cruised through the latter stages this week, beating seeded rivals in the forms of Elise Mertens, Qinwen Zheng, and Emma Navarro. Despite an overwhelming home support for the American in the previous round, Sabalenka dominated the rallies and was excellent on her serve to win comfortably in straight sets.  

The Belarusian will once again be the villain in the final, as Pegula will have every fan in attendance on her side, as America hopes to celebrate a second consecutive home winner in their Grand Slam. There will undeniably be nerves from the 30-year-old, as she plays in her first ever major final.

However, she has risen to every challenge throughout the tournament to this point, which includes a dominant straight-sets win over Iga Swiatek in the last eight. She needed to show character in her semi-final clash at Flushing Meadows on Thursday, coming from a set down to eventually see off Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
