The dominant star on the WTA Tour will be in action at Flushing Meadows in the last eight on Wednesday, as Iga Swiatek bids to reach another Grand Slam semi-final when she comes up against American star Jessica Pegula. But, can the home crowd get the American over the line at the US Open?

Before Betting Iga Swiatek vs Jessica Pegula

There is little doubt that Iga Swiatek remains the woman to beat at the US Open this year. The Polish superstar is chasing a sixth Grand Slam title overall, and a second success at Flushing Meadows. Swiatek won her only US Open title in 2022, and fell at the fourth round stage last year. But, she still boasts a dominant 80% win rate at the Grand Slam event.

Her performances already at Flushing Meadows show that she is looking incredible, winning all four of her previous matches without dropping a set. Swiatek overcame a second seeded player in the round of 16, as she breezed past Liudmila Samasonova with a final score of 6-4, 6-1. The Pole didn’t drop a single break point, and hit 88% winners on her first serve.

Jessica Pegula has been knocking on the door for Grand Slam success throughout her career, reaching six major quarterfinals. She has previously won WTA 1000 events on three occasions, and reached the WTA Finals last year. But, despite her excellent progression, she is yet to break her quarterfinal curse, having fallen at this stage of a Grand Slam on all six previous appearances.

However, Pegula has looked more focused than ever at Flushing Meadows this year, winning each of her four matches at the Slam without dropping a set. The American secured her place in this stage of the competition with a dominant showing against 18th-seed Diana Shnaider on Tuesday. In that match, she hit six aces, and converted on five from ten break point opportunities.
